Casebook highlights use of LinkedIn Learning platform at Ontario institutions

eCampusOntario has released Applications of LinkedIn Learning in Ontario’s Post-Secondary Institutions (2019), a casebook illustrating how select students, educators and support staff at Ontario institutions use the LinkedIn Learning platform.

The casebook was developed as part of the province-wide pilot of LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) that runs from 2017-2020. In 2017, the Government of Ontario asked eCampusOntario to administer the pilot and foster a community of practice around the platform, which provides access to skills-based video content for the post-secondary community.

eCampusOntario’s role in the pilot has three components. First, assist institutions to roll out the platform. Second, conduct province-wide research on the efficacy and uptake of the tool, in partnership with the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO). Third, plant the seeds of a community of practice in which educators, librarians, learners, instructional designers and educational technologists from across the 45 colleges and universities in Ontario come together to build a body of knowledge that inspires collective engagement with the LinkedIn Learning library. This casebook demonstrates that community of practice in action.

Each case in the collection is unique. Contributors illustrate a range of approaches, exploring the intersections between LinkedIn Learning content and pedagogy, instructional design and learning management systems, and more. The casebook is available to read and share on our publications and reports page. Click this link to view the casebook: https://rc-ecampus.ecampusontario.ca/publication-reports/
