Mojijo: A innovative student-led approach to tutoring

Meet Jack Zuck, entrepreneur, student and founder and developer of Mojijo, a tech-enabled platform that eliminates the hassle for students having to hunt for tutors and for tutors looking to offer help. Jack, a third-year marketing student at the University of Guelph, explains that if you are seeking scholarly assistance, your life is about to get so much easier.

Mojijo is a soon-to-be released app that uses an uberized approach to bridge the gap between student and tutor. During our conversations with Jack, he told us his struggle of spending hours hunting for tutors to aid his studies. After tediously trying to locate tutors, he explains that he had a lightbulb moment when he realized this hassle can be easily curbed.

With the intuitive Mojijo app, students have a quick way of connecting with tutors with just a couple taps on a smartphone. Just think, how many students shy away from seeking help due to the perceived difficulty of having to hunt for tutors? With Mojijo, students can instantly connect with a tutors and easily find the help they need to tackle their academic challenges. The business model provides a fast and simple exchange of services. Tutors offering help can simply download the app, identify their area of expertise, set their own schedule and gain access to students. Similarly, students can look up a class, concept or subject area they are struggling with and view a list of people with relevant qualifications. Like many social media apps, Mojijo facilitates a rating system that allows users to rate tutors based on their experience. The app also features an automated authentication system: users log in with their institution email address and automatically gain entry.

At eCampusOntario, we believe the relationship between technology and education is continuous. Technology is becoming more and more embedded in educational systems; Mojijo points to the desire of learners to improve the learning experience through tech-enabled solutions. Mojijo is the perfect example of technological innovation that serves to make the life of a student just a little bit easier.
