Apply to be an Open Ranger and Attend the Second Open Education Ontario Summit
Deadline extended: Friday, September 7th
Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1 pm – 6:30 pm at The George Conference Centre 80 Cooperage St. Toronto ON, Canada
eCampusOntario is hosting the second Open Education Ontario Summit (OEO Summit 2018), a forum designed to expand the community of practice for Open Education and use of Open Educational Resources (OER) work at Ontario’s Colleges and Universities.
Building Community, Building Capacity:
Building on last year’s OEO Summit, the 2018 Summit will bring experienced Ontario Open Rangers and new Open Rangers together to address roadblocks and create new strategies for open practice in Ontario. OEO Summit will provide a safe space to discuss and brainstorm future directions for Open Education work.
Join the Open Rangers:
eCampus Ontario invites applications from Ontario educators and practitioners who are interested in building capacity to support open education in their local context and province-wide. Rising Open Rangers will have the opportunity to work closely with an active and experienced Open Ranger as they progress through the day’s sessions and activities. Applicants will be asked to provide a brief (300 word) statement about their interest in Open Education and Open Educational Resources, as well as their goals for participation at the summit. Participants from last year’s Summit are encouraged to re-apply if they would like to re-connect with the community.
Format
The OEO Summit will feature a keynote from Billy Meinke, Open Educational Resources (OER) Technologist at University of Hawaii at Manoa, as well as workshops with Billy and local open practitioners, Ali Versluis (Open Educational Resources Librarian, University of Guelph) & Jessica O’Reilly (Instructional Developer, Cambrian College). Participants will also hear from eCampusOntario’s first cohort of Open Education Fellows, followed by a social gathering to mix and mingle with fellow Open Rangers.
One of the most important outcomes of the Open Education Ontario Summit will be to strengthen the passionate, dedicated community that strategically supports the use of Open Educational Resources and Practices across Ontario.
Through this event, eCampusOntario will bring together Open Rangers with a range of experience and interests to foster and develop Open Education initiatives, as part of their personal practice and within their educational institutions.
