Digital Fluency Accelerator Micro-credential

Equip your learners with the digital skills they need to succeed

Academic success now demands that learners be digitally proficient. We call this Digital Fluency — having the skills to use digital tools and technologies to learn, explore and create.

eCampusOntario’s new Digital Fluency Accelerator Micro-credential is specifically designed to be delivered by educators helping learners attain the skills they need to succeed academically.

The Digital Fluency Micro-credential is bilingual, asynchronous and suitable for online and hybrid learners attending publicly-assisted colleges, universities and Indigenous Institutes.  Consisting of five modules, the program enables learners to acquire digital fluency skills. Learners will explore digital tools and technologies and gain the necessary sustainable and transferable skills required for effective online learning, such as, managing digital files, digital design creation, safe digital communication and digital research navigation.

eCampusOntario’s delivery model is based on the collaboration and participation of educators who understand the enormous value of digital fluency to learners.  There are two options of participation for educators, librarians, academic student support staff, etc.

Digital Fluency Coach

Become an eCampusOntario Digital Fluency Coach and support your learners as they work toward their Digital Fluency Accelerator badge.  The Digital Fluency Coaches are hands-on, mentoring learners as they work to elevate their digital skills.

Digital Fluency Coaches will receive a $500 honorarium for successfully helping 20 learners earn their Digital Fluency Accelerator Micro-credential during the Fall term. Coaches also have the potential to receive an additional $300 for helping 70 or more learners earn their micro-credential. Onboarding sessions for Coaches will be held August 28th and August 30th. Learn more and apply to become a Digital Fluency Coach before August 21.

Digital Fluency Ambassadors

Ambassadors hold positions within educational departments as faculty or academic student support staff and function as the institution’s leader in promoting the micro-credential among peers. Each Ambassador will receive a $2,000 honorarium for completing the requirements, including successfully recruiting and supporting a minimum of 10 faculty who in turn help their learners earn their Digital Fluency Accelerator Micro-credential. Additionally, each Ambassador’s department will also receive a $10,000 allowance to support the program. Onboarding sessions for Ambassadors will be held August 28th and August 30th.

Learn more and apply to become a Digital Fluency Ambassador before August 21.

Applications for Ambassador and Coach roles will be accepted starting July 22 until August 21 from educators working in one of Ontario’s publicly-assisted Indigenous Institutions, colleges and universities. Educators working in the French language and in Indigenous Institutes are encouraged to apply.
